Breeze and Marley are back with the next leg of their 72 mile journey around Lake Tahoe:
LEG 3: Cave Rock to Zephyr Cove
We got a late start for our third leg of the 72 mile circumnavigation so I opted for a quick paddle from the Cave Rock boat launch to Zephyr Cove. I talked a couple of friends into dropping us off at our starting point and we made a plan to meet them at the beach for Saturday drinks and beach time.
I am getting much more coordinated with our whole launch process. What once was a logistical nightmare with heightened blood pressure, inevitable bruises, and complete and utter frustration is now a fairly streamlined process. Before, Marley would drag me as I stumbled through bushes and over rocks, banging my board into whatever was in our way and trying my best not to scream profanities in the process. Now, with just a little practice, the only exclamation comes from the mob of dog loving kids that inevitably surrounds us as we get situated on our board before paddling away.
In my left hand I manage to hold Captain Moo’s leash, paddle, life vest (safety first, kids!) and dry sack, while under my right arm I carry my Wet Woody Sport. The board is the easiest thing to manage, honestly, and is far less awkward and heavy than my adorable, but stubborn, counterpart.
This particular leg of our trip only ended up being about 2 1/2 miles, so we arrived at Zephyr right as my friends were getting set up on the beach after parking. We spent the rest of the day sitting on our Lakeshore boards and enjoying the water while Marley focused on her crawdad hunting.
